2007 Loos Family Pinot Noir Russian River Valley - This is a terrific single vineyard pinot! Totally small production, handcrafted (really!), very young now showing silky red fruit, vanilla, asian spice. Excelllent effort, well balanced. Wine is hard to find but totally worth the search. I tasted in San Franscisco bay area.

2006 Synchronicity - Excellent blend of Cab Franc, Cab Sauv, Syrah, Merlot and Mourvedre. Cherry nose, good medium body red. Really shows off hows blends make great NC wines.

2004 Don Ramon Red - This is a blend of 75% Grenache, 25% Tempranillo, estate bottled, oak aged. The bottle was a gift from friends a few years ago and we stored it at 58 degrees constant for 3 years. At room temp and allowed to breathe for 1 1/2 hrs. it became a wonderfully flavorful accompaniment to a dinner of pasta and tomato/meat sauce. Bold flavors of blackberry and very ripe plum on the finish which was long and smooth. Any oak was well in the background. Even at 12.5% alcohol I think it could have aged another 3 -5 years easily. I highly recommend it and wish I could find more, although I've just begun searching.

2007 Devil's Rouge - This is one of the most provocative wines I've ever experienced. "It was a palate of pleasure". I guess they sold out of this wine so fast it hardly hit the market. They are very small and just starting.....but watch out...they going to be BIG!

Hauser Estate Winery    View all reviews for winery    Write a review of this winery
The good news: The view of the surrounding countryside is breathtaking. Go for the view - not for the wines. The not good news: I tasted three grape wines (a white and two reds). The wines were much too young, had no discernible taste, and were extremely acidic. The pourers had absolutely no knowledge of wine - to the point where they did not even know what grapes the wines were made of. The question mark: I did not taste the apple wine or the ciders -- perhaps they were drinkable. Another strange thing: I had to request a change in the order of the tasting. Their schedule called for tasting a white grape wine, a white apple wine, three ciders, then two red grape wines. I just cannot understand the logic behind confusing your taste buds with all that sugar and apple taste between tasting the one white grape wine and then the two red grape wines. I requested tasting the white grape wine and then the two red grape wines. Bottom line: Go for the view - it's well worth

2003 domain chavrier - Beautiful wine, lively and fun to drink. We had cold meats, cheese and bread offered by Ivan and his wife who opened their cellar to us and treated us as family. I took back two boxes home and cant wait to taste them again.

First encountering Turning Point Vineyards during the Country Ham Days festival last month, I was thrilled to take home three varieties of their wonderful wine. Turning Point has become my wine of choice with a meal, as well as a wonderful way to relax after a day at the office.

Champagne Codan-Remy Alain    View all reviews for winery    Write a review of this winery
I love the Codan-Remy champagne. I live in the States, but each time I go back to Europe I make sure I can bring back a few bottles with me. I usually get the dry, but I also like their pink champagne, and of course the prestige. If you are in the Champagne region of France, do not hesitate to swing by Damery: beautiful little village, very nice people, and great champagne.
